Max was adopted from a Louisiana sugar cane farmer in 1983 and lived from August 9th, 1983 to May 18th, 2013.
Prior to Max, a Shiba/Inu mix named Pusuke was recognized by Guinness, although there are other unverified contenders, even one still living!
